Deliciously seasonal food, full of flavour and essential nutrients, produced with skill, care and spirit on our regenerative Devon farm.
Welcome to Strete
A regenerative farm by the sea.
Cared for by Devon-raised brothers Warren and Brendan and farming guide and guru Pete, Strete is embarking on a new chapter in its 300-year-old story, forging a new path for this historic estate.
Here, in the beautiful Gara Valley, we’re renaturing the land, building a community and growing delicious, seasonal food with humility and heart.
Full circle of transparency
With an open farm ethos and a deep commitment to animal welfare, we grow honest, wholesome food packed with the flavour and nutrients that only come from a healthy, biodiverse ecosystem.
Reawakening a precious ecosystem
Nestled in a place of rare beauty, Strete is a farm coming into harmony with nature. Perched above the sea beside an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Strete lies along an ancient trackway known for a thousand years as Streta or ‘road’. Now Strete is taking a new, restorative path, sending out fresh shoots and reawakening into a thriving community ecosystem.
FAQs
-
Regeneration literally means rebirth or a new beginning. Regenerative farming is a holistic approach to agriculture that restores soil health, enhances biodiversity, and improves water cycles. By rotating livestock, avoiding synthetic chemicals, and prioritising natural cycles, we create a healthier ecosystem for animals, plants, and people.
-
Our flocks and herds are pasture-raised using rotational grazing, ensuring they have access to fresh, nutrient-rich grasses, herbs and legumes. We want to give all our animals a happy life with companionship, space to wander, nibble and lots of fresh sea air. We prioritise their wellbeing through ethical and sustainable farming practices.
-
Strete is not certified by the Soil Association or Organic Farmers and Growers - yet, but we are embarking on the process of obtaining our organic certification. You might say we’re organic with a small ‘o’. We never use synthetic herbicides or pesticides, and we are restoring the biodiversity of our land, improving soil health, ecosystem diversity and abundance. We’re learning, we’re growing, and we’re putting ecosystem health and human wellness first.

-
Yes! Better still, our lambs are 100% pasture-fed, which means they graze on nutrient-dense wild grasses, herbs and legumes. This varied diet supports their healthy, natural growth, resulting in lean, flavourful, and nutritious meat.
-
Yes! Lambs are not well adapted to eating grains and concentrated feeds, which can make them ill. Grazing lambs eat according to their needs, resulting meat that is higher in omega-3 fatty acids, richer in vitamins and minerals (particularly vitamins A and E, and calcium, magnesium, and potassium) and higher in antioxidants such as beta-carotene.
-
Yes again! Pasture-fed lamb is generally higher in protein than grain-fed lamb, and it has a healthier fat profile with a higher ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids, which is beneficial for your heart and overall health.
